  GENERAL DUTIES

  I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.

  I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

  CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

  Reporting to the Network Lead Systems Administrator, the Network Technician implements and maintains the college’s network infrastructure. This hands-on individual collaborates with other campus divisions and units, including other IT groups, to coordinate technology efforts and further the mission of the division and college. The Network Technician is expected to analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks. Perform network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.

  Specific duties include:

  Perform day-to-day management of the network (wired and wireless), telecom (Cisco VoIP, mobileservice), and information security

  Perform management of Cisco Catalyst IOS and Palo Alto/ASAsecurity appliance platforms

  Perform management of the Cisco wireless platform

  Assist ICIT Project Management when designing and developing Statements of Work, negotiating cost, and managing the implementation/closeout of network/telecom-related projects with internal and external constituents

  Assist in the development and distribution of information securityawareness content and training for the campus community

  Assist in the planning and implementation of network upgrades to ensure an optimal and secure technology infrastructure

  Assist in the management of critical aspects of the college BusinessContinuity/Disaster Recovery requirements pertaining to network, data, telecom, and server availability

  Enforce network security policies

  Assist in the communication with CUNY Central and other campus constituents on information security awareness and breach procedures

  Assist in the performance of internal information security audits and responsible for network/information security-related attestations

  Maintain up-to-date documentation and procedures for network/telecom/information security-related aspects of the campus infrastructure and operations

  Assist the Incident Management team in central Network and Information Security incidents during and outside working hours

  Assist in the coordination of the notification and resolution processes

  Participating in professional development and other activities as directed

  Work closely with other IT teams to implement procedures, standards, operational controls, processes and communication paths for the monitoring and support of the technology operations, infrastructure and applications.

  Participates in development projects, from inception through implementation, helping to ensure timely and effective completion.

  Supports the college’s I.T. Helpdesk

  Stays current with new developments and industry best practices to incorporate into operational management and planning for enterprise systems.

  Analyzes current platforms and recommends products, architecture strategies, and development strategies.

  Ensures scalability and accessibility of applications and services.

  Collaborates with college CISO to manage cybersecurity systems to reduce risk for malicious attacks

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

  An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position

  Demonstrated English Language proficiency

  A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

  This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

  COMPENSATION

  Incumbent $91,298

  BENEFITS

Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.

  IMPORTANT NOTE:

  When a civil service list is established, the College is required to make appointments from the certified list to fill all positions including those held by provisional and/or temporary employees.

  Applicants who meet the qualification requirements and are a permanent IT Assistant or permanent IT Associate are encouraged to apply.

  The civil service test for the IT Associate (underlying title) is scheduled to open for filing in January 2024. Pure provisional employees that hold any titles within the progression (IT Support Assistant, IT Assistant, IT Associate, IT Senior Associate) are also encouraged to file for exam (s) in preparation for future promotional examinations.
