The IT Infrastructure Architect is a key role that has overall accountability for building and leading a world class network design and infrastructure strategy that is focused on optimizing the cost and reliability of our network and infrastructure, which a key pre-requisite of our Digital Transformation. The architect is a subject matter expert in both best practices and emerging technologies in this space, including: Network design, data center, cloud, and end user computing. Given the criticality of this role, this role is core member of the Infrastructure and Operations Leadership Team, working in close partnership with other Digital/Cybersecurity team members and key stakeholders to deliver reliable technology solutions. You will be part of a motivated, cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment, solving a diverse set of Infrastructure problems. WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION: Infrastructure Design: Design and develop IT infrastructure solutions that align with the nVent's business goals, security requirements, and scalability needs. Capacity Planning: Assess current infrastructure capacity and plan for future growth by forecasting resource requirements, such as servers, storage, and network bandwidth. Technology Evaluation: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and evaluate their suitability for the nVent's infrastructure needs. Vendor Management: Collaborate with technology vendors to select, procure, and implement hardware and software components, ensuring compatibility and cost-effectiveness. Network Design: Plan and design network architecture, including LAN, WAN, and cloud connectivity, to optimize secure data flow and minimize downtime. Disaster Recovery: Design and test disaster recovery plans to ensure the availability and resilience of critical systems. Compliance: Ensure that the IT infrastructure complies with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices in partnership with nVent's Cyber Security and compliance teams. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the IT infrastructure, including network diagrams, configurations, road maps, and change management records. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components. Troubleshooting: Provide technical expertise and guidance in resolving complex infrastructure issues and outages. YOU HAVE: ACADEMIC BACKGROUND: Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Information Systems PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE: Ideally 10+ years experience with design and delivery of network and data center solutions Ideally 5+ years experience as an IT Infrastructure Architect or a similar role Successfully led at least two large, complex, infrastructure initiatives Solid understanding of network architecture and design Experienced at managing external consultants and system integrators SKILLS: In-depth knowledge of IT systems, hardware, software, and networking technologies. Ability to communicate with clarity and simplicity on technical and non-technical matters spanning from strategy through to execution Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities for self and team Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills and the ability to lead & influence cross functional and multinational teams Good grasp of Agile delivery (prior working experience is not a must) Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco Certified Network Professional, Microsoft Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus.
