Job Description
Summary
The IT Business Analyst role will identify, define and document business processes and software requirements to be developed as software. They serve as a liaison between business and IT teams by facilitating communication and determining software objectives that align with stated and unstated business needs. This person will be responsible for overseeing requirements gathering, which includes eliciting, validating, and verifying the business needs and supporting system enhancements thru to production implementation. This person should be able to quickly learn new business processes and applications to support the business. Participates both hands-on and guiding 3rd parties / managed services through the software development lifecycle, including generation of functional and technical specifications, documentation of processes, generation and execution of test scripts and management of the change control process. This position may also support daily operational responsibilities for certain systems and serve as a liaison between business partners and 3rd parties / managed services or other team members in IT for problem resolution.
Essential Functions
Work with business partners to elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs; understand the customer journey and define and/or validate user requirements
Engage with business partners to influence project decisions; assess risks of various solutions and prioritize competing business demands
Promote architectural consistency and usability standards; define and execute test cases
Understand business needs and convert them to business requirements and functional specifications; ensure business requirements are well described, and documented
Define business process diagrams, testing scenarios and acceptance criteria; provide oversight and guidance to 3rd parties supporting software deployment
Document and translate stakeholder business functions and processes; ensure system design is written as per the needs of the business
Perform system configuration and system testing; provide oversight and guidance to 3rd parties supporting software deployment; engage both developers, application configuration team members and business partners for software deployment
Participate in functionality testing and coordination of user acceptance testing of the new system
Create artifacts as appropriate, including business case documentation, scope documentation, and process flows.
Support delivery teams as they develop, test, and deploy solutions.
Review delivery team output to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted; define and execute test cases.
Document current processes and models to understand inefficiencies or gaps.
Provide operational support for software and technical operations; collaborate with 3rd parties and managed service providers to support consistent availability and functionality of systems
Minimum Requirements
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent practical experience
2+ years of related experience in business analyst role
Experience with or knowledge of Salesforce and Veeva required
Experience in working with an Outsourced Delivery Model
Re-engineering / process improvement experience, leading quality improvement projects
Skills
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to business and IT resources and document solutions.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to analyze and solve problems.
Ability to develop solutions for business problems, and accordingly must effectively be able to communicate with a variety of business areas
Ability to understand the business needs of customers and translate them into the application and operational requirements
Ability to design features and define user stories
Good understanding of the software delivery lifecycle
Understanding of the company’s business practices and familiarity with the company’s products and services
Strong analytical, critical, and conceptual thinking skills; and project management skills
Strong stakeholder management, change management, and technical skills
Good planning, organizational, and time management skills
Proven ability to work in collaboration with external suppliers, building and developing effective relationships
Organizational Relationship/Scope:
This position works cross functionally within the IS and Commercial functions.
Working Conditions:
This position is office-based, under the Company’s current two-day “in-office” hybrid work environment (which is subject to change depending on business needs.
