The Military Division (Massachusetts National Guard) is seeking a professional for the role of Buyer I. The selected candidate for this role will be responsible for preforming task of purchasing and ordering a wide range of supplies. This integral role requires an organized and detailed-oriented professional who is committed to ensuring all the purchasing needs of the Military Division are met. The ideal candidate will have experience in various aspects of purchasing and ordering. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive)___ · Research state and federal supply sources to procure all parts and equipment. Some of these parts may include items required for highly technical building systems such as HVAC, fire and security alarms, electrical, and fuel systems.__ · Processes receipt and/ or adjustment documents.__ · Deals directly with vendors in soliciting bids and negotiating process.__ · Reviews stock records and determines replenishment needs.__ · Investigates and reconciles discrepancies.__ · Responds to visitor and telephone inquiries on supply actions and provides reasons for delay.__ · Maintains file to provide easy retrieval/location of material__ · Processes corrective actions and compiles accurate information for routine forms and reports.__ · Performs general clerical support work.__ _ABOUT OUR AGENCY___ The Massachusetts Guard has a unique dual mission, with both federal and state responsibilities. During peacetime, Guard forces are commanded by the Governor through the State Adjutant General. The Governor can call the Guard into action during local or state-wide emergencies, such as storms, floods, blizzards, and civil disturbances. In addition, the President of the United States can activate the Massachusetts National Guard to participate in federal missions. The Massachusetts National Guard's mission is to be trained and ready to provide units that can mobilize for any contingency, at home or abroad. We are composed of full-time and part-time Soldiers and Airmen, as well as civilians, who together serve the Commonwealth and country. _ _ _Preferred Qualifications _ * Experience using Integrated Engineering Management System (IEMS) or similar system * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Critical thinking and negotiating skills. * Excellent organizational skills * Ability to make decisions. * Ability to effectively develop an accurate system for monitoring purchasing orders _Required Qualifications _ * Knowledge of supply regulations, policies, procedures, techniques, and methods. * Knowledge of policies and procedures for requisitioning and stock control. * Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures. * Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system. * Ability to research, compile, and analyze supply information from data; receive, screen, review, verify, and maintain supply documents; resolve discrepancies. * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
