　　SUMMARY

　　Assists in the general operation of a large scale alfalfa farm through maintenance and repair of irrigation pivots and related farming equipment, and

　　ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

　　Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair pivot irrigation systems to ensure adequate irrigation for crops. Assist in irrigation operations when necessary by digging corrugates, repairing and transporting irrigation equipment, and assisting with other tasks as needed.

　　Assist in operating farm equipment to perform farming functions including discing, plowing, ripping, planting, spraying, and cultivating in order to prepare soil and plant crops according to schedules.

　　Assist in maintaining the farm's physical property which may include building and/or repairing fences, spraying and/or burning ditch banks for weed control, and building and/or repairing related farm buildings.

　　Performs a variety of maintenance tasks during the winter months to ensure smooth operation of the farm.

　　EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

　　Prior related experience pivot irrigation systems and general farming operations

　　LANGUAGE SKILLS

　　Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

　　MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

　　Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

　　REASONING ABILITY

　　Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
