The Internal Communications Associate is an integral part of the Internal Communications team at Equitable. The associate is responsible for proactively sourcing and writing content across a variety of digital channels and platforms, including internal websites, newsletters, video, social media, emails and memos, and digital message boards.
The associate will work with business groups across Equitable to proactively source ideas and write and publish content that helps tell the story of our business through straightforward news reporting as well as through the words of our employees and financial professionals.
The associate also serves as the lead administrator for the team, and schedules weekly editorial content meetings and maintains the overall editorial calendar and records. The associate will create weekly intranet metrics reports and make content recommendations based on the data, and also help with other reporting as needed, such as content audits.
Primary responsibilities:
Proactively source story ideas and content from company business areas, according to their needs, and contribute new content ideas consistent with the overall communications and content strategy
Collaborate with internal and external communications team members to write, edit and publish short and long form content for the company’s multiple internal channels
Ensure internal messages are communicated to employees in a clear, timely and effective manner
Ensure quality, technical, company style and web standards are met for all written content
Use various communications technology applications to create and publish content in companywide channels
Track and present metrics and oversees metric reports associated with internal communications/engagement activities
Participate in team meetings to align with the creative process and ensure adherence to strategic direction
Serve as team administrator and oversee and maintain editorial calendar and schedule team meetings
The base salary range for this position is $81,000 - $121,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of professional business experience, preferably in financial services
5 years of business writing to internal and external audiences
Proficient use of all Microsoft Office products (including SharePoint, Viva Engage and Teams) and other commonly used design and communication tools (such as content management systems and Poppulo)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (business, journalism or communications preferred)
Comfortable with communications technology and creating and publishing content in companywide channels, especially the intranet, internal social media and email
Expertise in crafting a coherent, comprehensive, compelling, accurate, concise narrative from multiple and varied sources of input
Experience in both formal business writing and lighter, engaging stories that attract and appeal to audiences of all workforce generations
Maintain confidentiality, promote integrity and adhere to Equitable’s Code of Conduct and ethical standards
Ability to work onsite in New York City at Equitable headquarters (1345 Sixth Avenue) at least two to three days per week
Skills:
Client Relationship Management: Knowledge of client relationship; ability to address issues critical issues to meet client needs and maintain engaged, partnering relationship with business partners and clients
Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
Copywriting and Editing: Knowledge of copywriting and editing; ability to write, review and edit texts and documents to promote marketing.
Data Gathering and Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques and processes; ability to gather and analyze data on the learning needs of a target population.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Storytelling: Knowledge of concepts and ability to plan, create and present business proposals, initiatives and ideas by storytelling actual business scenarios that are situation-specific, engaging, memorable and persuasive as compared to one-way, fact-based presentations.
