The Lumen Internship

Lumen offers a fully immersive, 10-week summer internship program. Our interns demonstrate curiosity, innovation, and a passion for advancing technology. This position is fully remote/work from home.

The Main Responsibilities

Lumen is looking for a UI Web Developer Intern on our Software Engineering team. The intern will be working with development teams and business analysts to create UI components for the Lumen Cloud Connect product. The intern will handle technical tasks related to JavaScript, Vue.js, Node.js, Express APIs, HTML, CSS, and Git. Additionally, they will engage in end-to-end automation for telephone and toll-free number provisioning, supporting a high-volume application. The role requires demonstrating enthusiasm, energy, and a willingness to learn and take on tasks. The intern will be involved in provisioning telephone numbers for small, medium, and large enterprise customers, ensuring that all traffic and routing go through the application. They will also support a wide variety of voice products for Lumen.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate’s commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.

Required qualifications:

Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship

Graduating August 2025 – May 2027

Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 – August 8, 2025)

Proficiency and understanding of:

JavaScript (ES6+) and its frameworks (Vue.js and Node.js)

Some exposure to Vue.js (including Vue Router and Vuex) for frontend development

Node.js and backend frameworks like Express.js for building APIs

HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles

Git and version control systems

Preferred qualifications:

Eager to learn: Willingness to expand knowledge, take feedback, and improve

Problem-solving skills

Attention to detail

Good communication skills

Ability to work in a team environment

Compensation

Internship compensation ranges depends on each individuals level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.

Hourly Based Pay Range:

Min: $26.00/hour

Max: $43.00/hour

Work Authorization

US work authorization required for role.

What to Expect Next

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
