We are seeking to fill an Intern - Quality Engineering role for Summer 2024 at our Stennis Space Center, Mississippi location.
After orientation and training, interns will perform entry-level engineering tasks on rocket propulsion projects. Interns will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with company projects. Interns must be able to operate effectively in a team environment.
Summer internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.
Aerojet Rocketdyne’s facility located at NASA’s Stennis Space Center, MS helped build and test the rocket engines that took humans to the Moon with Apollo, low-earth orbit with the Space Shuttle program, and now we are going farther than ever before with NASA’s Artemis program!
The intern will have an opportunity to learn and/or use basic engineering and quality principles, theories and concepts in support of RS-25 engine test, processing and quality activities.
100% - Under close supervision and following specific detailed instructions, the intern performs entry-level quality engineering assignments such as helping review work instructions using drawings and other requirements, conducting audits, and/or any special projects as directed. This is expected to include tasks in collaboration with other operations and engineering departments as well. Responsibilities include both general and specialized assignments that provide training and work experience of a developmental nature.
Candidate must be currently enrolled in a B.S. degree program or higher in Industrial Technology, Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, or General Engineering. Will consider other majors such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar. Must be returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
3.2 GPA or above
Junior standing or above
Solid academic track record of accomplishment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Software applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Self-starter with the ability to work with little direction
Leadership & teamwork skills
Knowledge of AS9100 is a plus
