The Valley Intern Program (VIP) is a unique and challenging 9-week experience for diverse, talented and motivated students interested in gaining relevant experience in their specific area of study within the banking industry. As a Valley intern you will be part of a team and work on projects that enable you to gain real-world skills and experience - integrating academic learning with practical application. We offer the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to grow professionally and contribute to the end results of the assigned projects.
40 Hours per week M- F
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist in the transition of our GRC system. (support team by testing, performing QA, and creating new internal documents). Support staff in the yearly operational risk assessment process by scheduling, attending and documenting meetings with business lines. Assist in the quarterly Metric (KRI and KPI) assessment process. Obtain metric information from business line owners and complete detailed analysis on the results. Expand Operational Risk reporting scope to include issue, policy and loss data tracking.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of the various functions of a commercial bank (including retail/commercial lending, wealth management, investments, operations, etc.). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to use communication skills to effectively manage correspondence with all levels of bank staff, senior and executive management along with regulators. Ability to effectively respond to shifting priorities and assignments. Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Office suite -- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as GRC software. Sound analytical and research skills. Well-organized and detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines and expectations with little or no supervision. Required Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program. Enrollment in a 4-year college or university, with a concentration in IT, Finance, Accounting or Business-related discipline.
