Job Overview
The Insurance Verification Representative Senior handles high risk insuranceaccounts in Finance and serves as a lead, coordinator or mentor. Verifiesinsurance policy benefit information and obtains authorization andprecertification, prior to the patient's visit or non-scheduled admission.

EDUCATION - High School Diploma or EquivalentEXPERIENCE - Three years of customer service required, including two yearsin a medical office setting.
Responsibilities
POPULATION SPECIFIC CARENo direct patient care.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of thefollowing essential functions. These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Performs lead duties within the unit as well as focuses on insurance accountsidentified as high risk by the department.Provides insurance verification training and support to the unit.Mentors and coaches co-workers; collaborates with management in order toreach goals and business outcomes.Notifies insurance company of services being rendered and obtainsauthorization if applicable; ensures notification, authorization andverification is completed for each account.Completes and obtains insurance information and referrals; verifies policyinformation and obtains detailed benefit information; codes work listaccording to departmental guidelines.Updates and edits coverage information on non-scheduled or pre-admittedpatients; coordinates reporting activitiesIdentifies problems and assures insurance information and appropriatereferrals have been completely and accurately obtained.Serves as a subject matter expert for co-workers and staff.Provides customer service in person by phone or email; assists customers,patients, families, providers, and staff with complex or escalatedinsurance questions.Works in conjuncti n with hospital departments to solve intradepartmentalissues.Assists on special projects as assigned by the Supervisor.
