This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Inspector for our NY Penn Plaza office. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

Manage daily construction and inspection activities.

Responsible for record keeping, payment entries, correspondence, and delivering of required reports.

Attend various project meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes.

Review daily inspection reports and payment quantities in accordance with contract requirements.

Prepare change orders for overruns, changed conditions and additional work.

Review, log and coordinate with the designer to respond to Contractor's submittals, RFI's and shop drawings.

Ensure that field staff have current construction documents.

Perform QC/QA inspections of contractor operations for conformance to plans, proposals and specifications.

Perform testing and sampling of materials and products used in construction. Ensure compliance with approved materials/specs.

Reviewing site conditions, material placement, adherence to quality and safety plans.

Writing detailed daily inspection reports including in place measurements, as-built sketches, quantity calculations and tracking of manpower/resources.

Must be willing to work nights work and weekend

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

Minimum 11 years of experience with construction inspection/office engineer duties on NY DOT project

High School Diploma

Ability to read plans /specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work, keep track of work in place totals for all items of work including contract work, unit price work, extra work, and time and material work on a daily basis.

Advise senior staff of potential differences in field conditions and overruns.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word and Excel

Driver's license and ability to commute to project sites

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

NETTCP Training in Concrete, Soils and Paving

ACI Certification

10 Hour OSHA safety training (30 hour OSHA safety training is a plus)

NICET III or BS in Engineering (PELicense/FE certification are plus)

AMPP (NACE/SSPC) Painting inspection certification

Experience working on erection/rehabilitation of structural steel and concrete

Experience working on traction power, communications and signals

MNR safety training is a plus

Additional certifications (CWI, bolting, safety) are a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $78,200 - $136,730
