　　Responsibilities

　　The Pharmacy Tech Levels 1 - 5:

　　Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Accurately and efficiently processes prescriptions. Interacts with patients and managed care plans to authorize prescription coverage. Assembles prescriptions and follows proper procedures to prepare and dispense medications. Accurately and efficiently completes patient purchase transactions utilizing point of sale systems. Assists with training new pharmacy employees. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations.

　　Qualifications

　　High school diploma/GED

　　Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English. Proven history of effectively performing technical tasks and following written / verbal instructions. Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system. Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills.

　　Experience with the use of office software computer applications and keyboarding. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.

　　No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.

　　License/Certification

　　Registration with the Board of Pharmacy where required by state regulation.

　　National Pharmacy Technician certification required within 12 months of start date.

　　This pay range spans from the minimum for a Tech I to the maximum for a Tech 5. Placement within a level and within the range is dependent on experience and qualifications.
