Location: The selected candidate will reside in and work remotely from: NYC, CT, Boston, MA or the surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
State Farm Insurance is seeking a Scouting Manager for our Green-Field East Coast-based scouting efforts. This candidate would be part of an existing 10-person scouting team located in both Silicon Valley and our corporate headquarters in Bloomington, IL. This individual will successfully identify and evaluate relevant, compelling early-stage companies, then work with State Farm Ventures and other internal stakeholders across our organization to refer the most promising of these companies. This fast-paced, strategic role involves working with many cutting-edge startups, VC firms, accelerators, and the broader startup ecosystem.
The East Coast-based Scouting Manager is responsible for identifying and working with a network of exciting startups, top-tier established organizations, as well as venture capitalists, incubators/accelerators, and premier educational institutions to identify emerging technologies, products, services, and solutions for State Farm and our customers.
Qualifications
This role takes a collaborative partner to build a network of East Coast startups, top-tier established organizations, VCs, incubators, accelerators, and premier educational institutions to identify emerging tech, products, services, and solutions. Competitive candidates possess:
Three plus years of experience working with startups.Possess both in-depth and breadth, tech background weighted toward mobile, APIs, AI/ML, cyber security, IoT, data analytics, blockchain, and edge computing.Broad business understanding across a range of industries. Working knowledge of the insurance industry is a plus.Strong associative thinking skills. (i.e., able to \"connect the dots\" for myriad implications associated with new tech, products, solutions, etc.)Demonstrated learning agility and curiosity.Excellent strategic and critical thinking abilities.Proven track record of effectively collaborating and influencing across organizations.Preferred Qualifications:
Good working knowledge of State Farm's core business lines, distribution models, strategies, and operational challengesThree plus years of large scale enterprise experienceAble to effectively represent State Farm with entrepreneurs, senior executives, venture capitalists, and other external stakeholders.Experience speaking to large groups and participating in industry panels for large audiences.Comfortable utilizing leadership courage to challenge the status quo when appropriate.Working at State Farm:

Potential salary range: $120,000-$250,000
Potential yearly incentive pay: up to 16% of base salary
