JOB SUMMARY: The Waukesha In-Home Safety Services (IHSS)program works with families referred from Waukesha County to maintainsafety in homes where children are at risk for removal. Our team worksclosely with identified families to address a wide range of concernsincluding: safety, parenting, household management, nutrition, safe andstable housing, service acquisition, education, employment, medical,mental health and substance abuse issues. The Safety Services Workerprovides services to families involved with the child welfare systemthat are at risk for out-of- home placement due to abuse or neglectissues. IHSS also serves youth who have been re-unified with theirfamily after being placed in residential treatment, foster care ortreatment foster care. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SAFETYSERVICES WORKER: Evaluate youth and families for treatment needs andrefer to appropriate resources. Analyze client situations, capabilitiesand problems to determine services needed to address safety concerns.Implement, evaluate and review safety assessments and plans. Exercisejudgment to intervene as an advocate for clients in emergency and crisissituations. Conduct face-to-face contact with families, per programstandards, to ensure safety and cooperation with safety plan. Serve aspart of the Safety Team. Safely transport clients as needed. Aftertraining is complete, staff are added to the rotating schedule tomonitor occasional after-hours calls. Act as a resource to evaluate anddetermine necessary responses in de-escalating crisis situations withyouth and families. LOCATION: Office is located in Waukesha, WI. Localtravel is required to meet with clients in the community, with mileagereimbursement. Must be able to meet in-person with clients in WaukeshaCounty, WI. SCHEDULE: Hours are typically Monday-Friday between 8:00amand 5:00pm, with some evenings.
