The Secretary of the Commonwealth’s IT Division is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Project Manager to assume manage a portfolio of projects. The Secretary handles all of the important records across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts such as business records, death records, birth certificates, voting, etc.
This role in particular will be involved with their PMO office and be reporting to the CIO. They are looking for a candidate who has expereince across the Network Infrastructure landscape, whether it be with projects relative to storage environments, networking, cyber security, data center technologies, and backup solutions. With that being said they are looking for someone with a general knowledge of data center technologies, cyber security concepts and tools, and LAN/WAN/WLAN networks. They also are seeking someone who is a go getter and will push their teams and be proactive about projects and any issues.
You will be responsible for leading the initiation, planning, execution, and closure phases of the project life cycle for IT projects involving multiple technologies, systems, business unit functions, and stakeholders. The candidate will manage plans, organize, and control all operations and activities of large IT projects at varying levels of complexity.
The Infrastructure Project Manager will analyze project requirements and work closely with stakeholders to define project tasks, resource requirements, and to ensure proper integration between systems. The candidate will identify and document project requirements, collaborate with teams and vendors to identify priorities and expectations, and coordinate schedules with all stakeholders.
This role will include the design of new processes and adoption of new strategies to ensure that projects are aligned with organizational standards and IT policies. The Project Manager must understand complex technical scenarios and requirements, and possess the ability to work through obstacles to progress and to suggest alternative strategies, policies, and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Communicate effectively with project teams, sponsors, managers, and other stakeholders
• Develop and maintain full-scale project plans, ensuring that roles and responsibilities are defined
• Coordinate and monitor activities and highlight anticipated issues or slippage. Work with team members to formulate corrective actions when project deliverables deviate from the work plan and projected budget
• Ensure that user requirements, deliverables, and approvals are defined, documented and communicated
• Ensure the delivery of a product that meets user requirements
• Promote use of PMI best practices
• Develop comprehensive project plans: work structures, schedules, major milestone roadmaps, communication plans, test plans, and change control procedures
• Deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
• Respond dynamically to changing requirements, expectations, and priorities; manage all business objectives, technical needs, limitations, priorities, and risks
• Demonstrate technical writing skills, experience with proposals, RFPs/RFQs, with the ability to proofread and edit for proper grammar, punctuation and spelling in all documents produced
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and function effectively in a fast-paced, occasionally high-stress environment with a variety of personalities
• High level of mental reasoning with the ability to address and resolve a wide range of intellectual and practical issues and concerns
