Job Description:
Aetos is seeking a focused individual who will work as a team member providing mission support to the Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 3 (ELVIS 3) IT Security department at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. This person must have a self-starter attitude in performing IT Security control assessments and audits for NASA’s Launch Services Program and providing day-to-day support for multiple LSP System Security Plans. The candidate must participate in the planning and implementation of system monitoring, maintenance and support of all networked operating systems and software. Ultimately, Aetos is seeking a person with a passion for space and an enthusiasm for working both independently and within a team based environment.
General Summary:
Ability to gain internal support and establish a solid working relationship with customers, peers, and management
Monitor system health and status
Help troubleshoot and resolve issues with hardware and software
Work with server and desktop teams to ensure solutions continue to comply with federal laws, regulations, policies and standards
Coordinate policies, practices, processes, and desktop instructions to support construction of System Security Plans in accordance with the Risk Management Framework tasks and activities associated with completion of the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) Process for Authorization to Operate (ATO) approval
Manage all LSP System Security Plans in the Risk Information Security Compliance System (RISCS), coordinate information security compliance and continuous monitoring activities
Monitor NIST SP 800-53 management, operational, and technical security controls, review and update implementation details, provide risk-based justification for risk acceptance, and create plans of action & milestones (POA&M) to resolve security issues
Discover and prioritize security issues, research and test fixes, determine and communicate impact, and create remediation plans
Respond to all IT Security related tasks assigned, research vulnerabilities, recommend or implement solutions, and verify resolution by providing sufficient artifacts as required for closure
Update and maintain security documentation, including risk assessment reports, configuration management plans, baseline configurations, software licensing and contingency plans, procedures and tests
Attend LSP IT, Communications and Telemetry control board meetings and NASA/KSC IT Security meetings
Monitor and update software and hardware inventories, track and report unsupported operating systems, compare LSP inventories with official RISCS inventories, and upload non-networked device listings via the NASA Manual Inventory process
Perform Security Impact Assessments for new technologies or significant changes, research supply chain risks for new procurements
Perform credentialed vulnerability scans using the NASA tool NESSUS, review findings, prioritize by risk, consider mitigation strategies, investigate false-positives, and track status in the Kennedy vulnerability tracking systems ITSEC-EDW, and Bugzilla
Research operating system updates and issues with security patches that could affect mission systems, report configuration setting status using Agency security configuration standards
Review system security logs for Windows, Linux, and network device operating systems, manage logging tools, and report suspicious activity
Leadership
Communicate ideas and solutions effectively to management, team members and customers both orally and in writing.
Work effectively with other ELVIS 3 team to ascertain needs, resolve differences and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Provide timely project status report to Business Area Manager and team members. Actively participate in staff meetings. Present new ideas, offer solutions, raise issues and determine ways to assist team members.
Inform management of project issues immediately and present plausible solutions.
Meet project schedules and organize own time effectively. Notify management immediately when schedule conflict arises.
Demonstrate enthusiasm for the job, pride in the organization and a willingness to perform tasks as assigned
US Citizenship
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science or 10 years related technical field experience
Minimum 5 years of technical experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired
CISSP or other IT Security certifications is a plus
