About Logansport State Hospital:
Logansport State Hospital is a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with mental illness. Using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based programming, we promote recovery and return of the individual to the community.
Salary Info:
Salary: This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $47,320. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Design and illustrates booklets, leaflets, pamphlets, promotional mail and presentations about an agency and its programs.
Direct production of layout, page make-up, printing and typesetting in cooperation with artists on graphic work.
Assist in directing the activities of lower-level information specialists in the writing of news releases.
Attend meetings and workshops to gather information concerning new programs and projects.
Receive and answer correspondence for information requests and public relations functions.
Research, write and prepare copy for newspaper articles and other agency publications.
Develop news stories about activities and programs for employee newsletters or public release.
Establish and maintain biographical and historical files of agency publications.
Compile information on agency activities for publication and reference.
Maintain mailing lists, checking for duplications and other problems.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
Specialized knowledge of journalism techniques in planning, composing, and editing news releases and other informational documents.
Considerable knowledge of agency programs and objectives.
Considerable knowledge of policies, operations, and procedures of the agency.
General knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations relating to the agency.
General knowledge of audio-visual devices, broadcasting and recording processes.
Ability to abstract, summarize and research assigned program areas.
Ability to express agency programs and objectives before governmental agencies and the public.
Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with people.
Effective communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
