Your Opportunity

Stantec's growing Industrial Water practices is seeking a highly motivated Project Technical Lead to join our team. The candidate will focus on technical and quality leadership in the pursuit and delivery of industrial water projects throughout the US and Canada and will have extensive experience in design and operational logistics with a passion for innovative projects.

The role of the Industrial Water Project Technical Lead is to productively network with a wide array of engineering, environmental, power and water professionals on both technical project execution and related business development initiatives.

You will Lead and manage cross-functional teams in process, instrumentation, and controls engineering on industrial process water and municipal water and wastewater treatment projects. Projects assigned may be broad, varied and diverse in scope. You will analyze proposed projects to ensure safety, reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Business development/application activities ranges from intentional listening to client needs and identifying related solution opportunities to high level business strategies and implementation planning. All Stantec industrial water project engineering managers perform as seller-doers, routinely developing detailed proposals for a wide variety of project settings.

Your Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with a team of design professionals and technicians.

Management of projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams

Performs business development tasks such as identifying target clients and pursuits, client-facing meetings, proposals, interviews, and other strategic marketing activities to increase project wins and develop long lasting client relationships.

Collaborate with and support the Project Manager to lead the project delivery team from initial identification of opportunity to project close-out, managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

During Project Delivery, you will be responsible for the technical activities, coordinating with other discipline leads, and ensuring the technical quality of all deliverables that achieves the defined project goals and client expectations.

Performs complex engineering design tasks on industrial water and wastewater-related projects including leading and participating in development of design basis documents, feasibility and alternatives analyses, engineering calculations, engineering drawings, specifications, reports, quality reviews and presentations.

Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel.

Coordinates with the regulatory review to seek final approval.

Assists in the development and updates of project design standards and guidelines.

Preparation of abstracts and technical papers/presentations at industry conferences.

Mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams.

Apply and share experience/knowledge of design expertise.

Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Multidisciplinary experience in process, instrumentation, and controls engineering.

Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and leading projects to success.

Strong operational experience with logistics, optimization, safety, and quality programs.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to drive business development and manage client relationships effectively.

Experience with EPC/EPCM Projects, lean manufacturing methods and fast-paced project execution.

Ability to quickly assess industrial process for core plant functions and develop clear process flow diagrams.

General understanding of all phases of project document production, client procurement procedures, and regulatory approval processes.

Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors, funding agencies and reviewing agencies; to deliver technical presentations in public forums in conferences and technical symposia.

Possesses excellent time-management skills; thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and available resources.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution. Masters degree preferred. Minimum of 15 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

$112,300 - $168,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HIThe final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death dismemberment (ADD) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.

The benefits information listed above may not apply to union positions because benefits for such positions are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
