Position Summary
Plant maintenance/mechanic position is responsible for preventativemaintenance and repair of aggregate plant processing equipment includingbut not limited to stationary machinery and mechanical equipment such asconveyor systems, shakers, pumps, gearboxes, etc. As a plantmaintenance/mechanic you may perform various roles, includingfabrication, welding, cutting, greasing, housekeeping and various othershop or processing duties.
Job Responsibilities
Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by ProductionWill take an active role in the plant safety initiativesEnsures a safe work environment for self and others at all timesConducts MSHA pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and workareasOperates cranes, manlifts, hoists pneumatic, hand tools, powertools, cutting torches, welding equipment, and other specialtyservice equipment as neededMaximizes performance of stationary equipment by performing repairsand ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basisPerforms fabrication, erection of processing equipment and repair toprocessing equipment and mobile equipment.Responsible for ensuring backlog process is completed andprioritized with Plant Manager.Completes required paperwork to maintain equipment and to run theplant according to Martin Marietta Materials standardsDuties may include checking, repairing or replacing pumps.Inspects and ensures maintenance truck is being maintained properlyEnsures Preventative Maintenance services, lubrications services arecompleted according to Maintenance Module.Trains and coaches other employees on maintenance practicesRequirements
Minimum 1 to 3 years+ experience related to heavy duty maintenancejob or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferablyin aggregates industryHigh School Diploma or GEDMust be able to perform duties in a safe mannerAbility to read and write and communicate effectivelyMust be able to communicate over two-way radio or with hand signalsand warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehiclesand mobile equipmentSelf-starter with ability to work with little or no supervisionStrong mechanical knowledgeAbility to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to work with little to no supervisionDemonstrated proficiency with oxy/acetylene torch and stick welding,MIG a plusMust be able to identify and order basic parts (bearings, idlers,screens, pulleys)Must be able to field lay out and fabricate in steelMust be able to work 8-12 hour(+) shifts, weekends, overtime, andholidays as neededAbility to troubleshoot, repair and maintain all plant equipmentProficiency with a wide variety of hand tools and power toolsAbility to work in outdoor environment and in elevated areasPhysical Requirements
