  Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Health Agency Public Health, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. Responsibilities Identify, evaluate, provide a risk assessment, and mitigation measures for potential health hazards inherent in he assigned material systems. Coordinate with other members of the HHA Program or with subject matter experts (SME) within the DCPH for assistance in developing individual hazard category assessments and integrating those assessments into the Health Hazard Assessment Reports. Manage multiple projects, as many as 10 – 12, at any one time. Represent the DCPH-A as a recognized authority in HHA with a working knowledge of the Integrated Defense Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Life Cycle Management System. Develop DCPH-A and program documents in order to clarify roles, responsibilities and processes as well as provide routine update of these documents. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Industrial Hygienist: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science. The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. OR Related Degree: Bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For engineering degrees to be acceptable, the curriculum must be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum. OR Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH). In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: developing Industrial hygiene guidance documents and standards; assisting with resolving Industrial Hygiene problems; and performing health hazard evaluations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Oral Communication Risk Management Safety and Health Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
