Your Impact:
Support the Shallow Land Disposal Area site during site preparation, construction, and remediation activities. As an industrial hygiene specialist, you will work directly with the program Certified Industrial Hygienist in identifying, evaluating and controlling occupational health and safety hazards for all phases of site activities.
The ideal candidate will have a variety of IH experience including monitoring airborne hazards, evaluating and controlling heat stress, and identifying and controlling physical hazards (noise, ergonomics, etc.). Experience with a variety of monitoring techniques and instrumentation is required. Candidate will also have experience with occupational health controls including respiratory protection (PAPR, SCBA, SA) and industrial ventilation systems including local exhaust and dilution systems.
Here's What You'll Need:
At least 3-5 years of relevant technical IH experience.
Experience in environmental remediation (CERCLA, FUSRAP, etc.), or similar environments.
BS Environmental Health or similar degree.
Occupational safety experience.
Detail oriented, highly organized.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using a variety of direct reading IH instruments.
Current or former US security clearance.
Safety experience working around heavy equipment and material handling activities.
Essential Functions Work Environment
· Standard office PC, with common MS Office software (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
Attendance
Specific DoD Security training using the STEPP online systems is mandatory before performing project duties.
Timely response to resolve issues is expected.
Standard schedule 10 hours per day, 5 days per week (overtime pay is authorized) with be pre-approval and authorization.
If needed and as directed by the Jacobs SLDA Team Project Manager, must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Level Clearance for work on the Shallow Land Disposal Areas

· U.S. Citizenship required.
· Valid driver's license is required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
· Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
Must take and pass a pre-employment drug and background check and beryllium lymphocyte proliferation testing.
Ideal candidate will already reside in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
