Summary You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST. Responsibilities You will perform duties at the Journeyman level in alignment, installation, overhaul, repair, maintenance, alteration and fabrication on all types of mechanical equipment. You will work with various systems to include: hot water, fresh water, hydraulic, high and low pressure air, pneumatic, sewage disposal and steam systems. You will improvise replacement, assembly, repair, and troubleshooting techniques for industrial equipment when standard procedures do not apply. You will follow established safety rules and regulations applicable to industrial equipment repair to maintain safety when completing assigned work. You will set clearances, turn and scrape bearings, level and align equipment. You will work on cranes, hoists, towers and range testing equipment. You will read blueprints, maintenance and parts manuals and understand and use shop mathematics. Working Conditions: Work assignments require individual to work indoors and outdoors. Occasionally, will be required to work in temperatures from below freezing to extreme heat and in areas of smoke, dust, dirt and noise. Periodically works in high wind conditions. Works around machinery with moving parts. Exposed to electrical shock, sharp edges and toxic fumes. Injuries may include cuts, burns, shocks, bruises, foreign bodies in eyes, etc.
