Job DescriptionPosition Title: Valve Manufacturing LeadPosition Summary:Hunt Valve powered by Fairbanks Morse Defense is looking for a Valve Manufacturing Lead to join our team. The role will include planning, directing, and supervising direct labor employees who manufacture and assemble parts that make up our valves. The job will require a dedicated manufacturing lead to oversee day to day operations, work cross functionally with Planning/Scheduling, Purchasing, Operations, Engineering, Quality and Safety, support customer requests, and ensure on-time delivery of manufactured valves. This role will report directly to the Production Manager and be responsible for all valve related manufacturing KPI's. Candidates should possess business awareness, have a good understanding of manufacturing or the manufacturing process, be organized and structured, and demonstrate the ability to hold accountability where needed.Pr inciple Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, direct and supervise 20+ direct labor union employees who manufacture valve related components.Ensure a safe environment for employees through adherence to safety policies, assessing and eliminating hazards, conducting incident investigations, and implementing corrective action.Ensure WPO (Work Place Order) and 5S initiatives are in place to maintain and improve shop floor cleanliness.Utilize DLA (Daily Layered Accountability) daily management to plan and execute on said plans, directed at shift start and shift end huddles.Plan and execute production schedules to meet production requirements.```{=html}
```- Responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control of all WIP and FGI product within the department and minimizing inventory held through efficient planning and achievement of lower lead times.- Coordinate activities with in-house manufacturing shop personnel and our outside vendor base to meet production deadlines.- Drive a culture of productivity improvement within the facility through lean initiatives, Standard Work Instructions, and process improvements.- Motivate, monitor, and counsel employees regarding work-related issues and performance. Gauge workforce skills and initiate cross training programs as necessary.- Enforce discipline and accountability when needed.- Work cross functionally with each department.
Q ualifications and Educational Requirements
Associate or Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing-related field from an accredited university is highly preferred.HS Diploma or GED required.Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to manage and communicate effectively to the direct supervisor and direct reports.Demonstrated working knowledge of Word and Excel; experience with an ERP system is preferred. Oracle systems experience a plus.Very good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.Experience with large CNC machine equipment or heavy manufacturing process is beneficial.Minimum of 5 years experience working in a manufacturing environment.Previous experience managing and supervising in a union-represented environment is beneficial.Knowledge of welding, heavy manufacturing machining, assembly processes and lean manufacturing methodology is a plus.Equal Opportunity Employer - minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
