  DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to building a sustainable community and enhancing the quality of urban life by providing safe well-maintained parks and offering affordable programming for our community. To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking a Human Service Program Coordinator (Seasonal) to join its Recreation & Wellness team.

  The potential candidate will play a key role in the following duties:

  Oversee, coordinate and monitor assigned Community Relations Specialist functions and activities for the Summer Food Service Program.

  Serve as a liaison between the department and the community, requiring a high level of tact and cooperation.

  Plan, develop and implement procedures to meet state regulations and program guidelines.

  Responsible for site visits, preparation and verification of daily, weekly and special reports.

  Conduct orientation, training, development and evaluation of staff.

  Assist with maintaining inventory control and marketing the program.

  Perform other duties as assigned.

  WORKING CONDITIONS

  The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  Requires an Associate's degree in Business Administration, Management or a closely related field.

  EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  Two years of experience in coordinating and managing community programs and activities are required.

  LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  May require a Valid Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).

  PREFERENCES

  Applicants with experience in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook are preferred.

  Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.

  SALARY INFORMATION

  Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification. The salary range is:
