JOB TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES INTERN
STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, help manage the day-to-day operations and performs duties in all areas of the HR office. This internship will also assist as necessary in the following functional areas: HRIS, office management, organizational development, and other administrative duties as assigned.
As an HR Intern, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of our HR policies and procedures. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be utilized in maintaining accurate employee records and assisting with various HR-related activities.
Additionally, you will have the chance to contribute to the coordination of company events and gain exposure to different facets of HR management.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General duties and responsibilities of the position are included in but not limited to the information listed below
Provide general administrative and office support (i.e. file updates, office supplies, records management, answering HR general email/phone extension, triaging employee requests, etc...)
Participate and assist in job fairs and company social and networking events
Assist with the onboarding process which includes, but is not limited to the following: scheduling orientations, creating new employee personnel files, sharing new employee biographies with the Agency and updating the staff directory.
Help maintain all personnel files, including employee training records, in electronic and paper form. Work with the Records Management team to coordinate label and destruction of archived HR file boxes.
Assist with pulling/preparing files for Auditors as needed. Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment (I-9, residency, etc.)
Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and government laws and regulation.
Assign and help manage employee IDs, reissuing ID’s to those who lost theirs and deactivating employees who are no longer employed at BPDA.
Manage and update Office Hour calendar/visits to multiple BPDA locations as needed.
Assist with processing Professional Development for employees.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Enrolled in a university or college program at junior or senior level, preferred course of study to include Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related degree. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and Google, etc. is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary. Attention to detail, good interpersonal and organizational skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Able to maintain flexible work schedule and demonstrate professional work ethic. The ability to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced environment essential. Must have experience with and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Some knowledge of U.S. Labor Laws preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normal office environment. In-office, hybrid schedule can be discussed
