  General Job Summary:

  The Housekeeper is required to perform housekeeping and cleaning functions within the facility. Housekeepers will be responsible for working in and around patient care areas and in the common areas of the facility. Work will be on a routine basis as well as on as needed basis in the event of needs to for immediate cleaning of any area.

  Duties and Responsibilities:

  The Housekeeper is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities which are considered essential functions of the position.

  Clean resident rooms hallways and/or office, including furnishings and fixtures, as assigned according to established procedure.

  Clean bathrooms (patient, private, public). Wash and disinfect all fixtures, floors, and walls as directed. Clean walls and ceiling fixtures as scheduled.

  Disinfect movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures; empty clean and re-line waste baskets; properly dispose of waste and trash; straighten or rearrange furniture as directed; inspect furnishings for wear and defects and report to the department manager.

  Clean and disinfect all horizontal surfaces as rquired to remove dust, dirt, or greasy film.

  Clean entrances and exits according to established procedures.

  Remove for cleaning and re-hanging curtains, drapes, blinds, privacy dividers.

  Perform cleaning duties according to established procedure in patient rooms for new occupant.

  Perform emergency cleaning where accidents occur.

  Maintain equipment used in performing duties; report structural and equipment wear, defects and malfunctions to the department manager.

  Report supply and equipment needs to be the department manager.

  Assist with training and orientation of new department employees.

  Maintain resident information and Pine Acres internal affairs in strict confidence.

  Follow Pine Acres policies concerning personal grooming, appearance and appropriate dress code requirements.

  Qualifications:

  Education

  Must possess the ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral instructions in English. High School diploma or GED is preferred, but not required.

  Work Experience

  Some institutional housekeeping experience is preferred, but not required. On the job training will be provided.

  Work Experience

  Experience in long-term care preferred.

  Physical Activity Requirements:

  Lifting Requirements

  The housekeeper is frequently called upon to lift charts and equipment weighing up to 10 pounds. The Staff Nurse will constantly be called upon to lift equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, Staff Nurses will be required to assist with lifting residents weighing up to and exceeding 160 pounds.

  Carrying Requirements

  The housekeeper is regularly called upon to carry objects, including charts and equipment of up to ten pounds. The Staff Nurse occasionally will be called upon to carry equipment up to 25 pounds. Carrying in excess of 25 pounds is not required.

  Sight Requirements

  The housekeeper is required to have 20/20 correct vision.

  Hearing Requirements

  The housekeeper is required to have normal range of hearing, as corrected

  Socialization Requirements

  Housekeeper are required to work with all other persons in the department. The ability to get along and socialize with others is essential. In addition, the Housekeeper is responsible for hands-on patient care requiring the ability to meet and deal with residents and their families. Good communication and socialization skills are essential.

  Other Physical Requirements

  Housekeeper will regularly be expected to stand, sit, and walk.
