The Environmental Service Technician performs special cleaning projects as well as daily cleaning duties in accordance with AHE standard procedures of the Contract Services (Housekeeping) department and with hospital objectives. Assigned areas may include patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas, and public restrooms, etc. Environmental Service Technician must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing or moving objects, materials, and/or the cleanup of blood, infectious materials, body fluids containing blood in accordance with OSHA blood-borne Pathogen Standard.
Responsibilities
Cleans and disinfects examination tables, restrooms, showers, locker rooms, clinics, labs, veterinary facilities, radiology, MRI, therapy areas within the hospital environment to establish standards as needed
Collects and disposes regular trash, RMW (Regulated Medical Waste) and recycle materials.
Collects and removes soiled linen into appropriate bin.
Replenishes hand soap, hand sanitizers, other supplies as needed.
Dust mops floors with microfiber using standard operating procedures.
Wet mops floors with disinfectant using microfiber material flowing standard operating procedures.
Handles various types of cleaning materials in compliance with established guidelines and utilizing appropriate personal protection equipment) PPE).
Obtains all necessary cleaning solutions and supplies from the supply closet to perform daily cleaning duties. Returns all supplies upon completion of assigned tasks.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication skills.
Previous custodial experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
Ability to complete task to the highest standards possible.
Ability to deal with frequent interruptions.
Previous work experience preferred.
Follow directions and instructions.
Identify safety and hazards and act accordingly.
Carry out proper cleaning procedures on a daily basis.
Adhere to all safety rules and requirements and all policies and procedures.
Occasionally assists lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
Ability to obtain a NACI.

May lift equipment weighing 25 pounds. Occasionally assists lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
