　　Description of Duties

　　This is a skilled position responsible for highway construction, repair, and maintenance. Duties involve the performance of a variety of skilled and manual labor, construction, and shop equipment operations including sign and pavement marking installations, and operation of construction equipment under a variety of weather conditions and temperature extremes, and various work schedules. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, a Highway Maintenance Mechanic I, Senior Highway Maintenance Mechanic, Bridge Construction Foreman, Traffic Signs Operation Supervisor, or other higher level staff member. Daily work is assigned with detailed instructions from a higher level crew member. Employees are required to move material in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Does related work as required.

　　Minimum Qualifications

　　Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus six (6) months paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in maintenance, repair, or construction which must have included a combination of two (2) or more of the following skilled trades: masonry, carpentry, pipe installation, asphalt paving, welding, metal fabrication, pavement marking installation and sign installation.
