  THE POSITION

  Do you have professional education experience? Are you interested in taking the next step in your career? The Department of Education is seeking a Higher Education Associate 2 with exceptional communication skills. This position gives you the opportunity to provide advanced professional educational and administrative work of a lead nature related to the outcomes and programmatic efforts aimed at meeting the Commonwealth’s postsecondary attainment goals.   DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  As a Higher Education Associate 2, effective communication skills are essential as you will be providing consultative and technical assistance to participating institutions, as well as responding to requests for information from other states, the academic community, researchers, association members, vendors and consultants, and members of the general public. You will be required to have extensive knowledge of statutes, regulations, standards, and policies of the State Board of Education and the PA Department of Education. You will utilize this knowledge to ensure quality and compliance in offering postsecondary and higher educational programs and services to meet the needs of the Commonwealth and its citizens. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  Facilitating statewide Transfer and Articulation efforts

  Administering the oversight of degree-granting institutions in accordance with set regulations and performing work in approval and compliance process at colleges, universities, and seminaries

  Conducting reviews of Education Enterprise applications

  Facilitating dual credit initiatives

  Researching, developing, and implementing initiatives to foster equity and access in higher education in collaboration with the division chief, bureau director, and the deputy secretary

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment

  Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

  Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report in-office one day a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

  Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  One year as a Higher Education Associate 1 in the parenthetical;or

  Four years of professional education experience, including two years in higher education for the Higher Education parenthetical and two years in basic education for the Teacher Education parenthetical and a master's degree;or

  An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional education experience including two years in higher education for the Higher Education parenthetical and two years in basic education for the Teacher Education parenthetical.
