Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district approved curriculum, documenting student progress and outcomes, addressing specific educational needs of individual students and creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment. Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
Come join a growing CTE (Career and Technical Education Department) and Industrial Tech Department. Looking for a candidate that can develop and help build a program for students that develops their skills in the trades and connects them to career opportunities in the community. We offer a series courses in CAD (computer-aided drafting), woods, metals, residential wiring, building and trades, automotive. We also collaborate with Iowa Central to provide opportunities for students to obtain college credit while in high school.
Our students find our Industrial technology classes to be engaging, hands on, and smaller in class size. This is a multi-member department. The current position is teaching Automotive and CAD classes, but assignment could be adjusted based on certifications.
Our teacher work collaboratively with the college and with the community to provide opportunities and exposure to our students to the growing trades field and rigorous standards of each industry.
Essential Functions
Develops and administers senior school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Creates a welcoming and engaging learning environment for all students.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by actively taking part in professional learning communities and other opportunities.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other senior high school professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
