FTE: 0.500000 Shift: Shift 1 Schedule: 0630-1500, A wk - M/F and Bwk - W/S/S Job Summary: The Health Unit Coordinator provides clericaland system coordination and support for the inpatient care areas.Coordinates nursing unit communication and activities with physicians,nursing staff, other departments, professional staff, patients, andfamilies related to patient care. The Health Unit Coordinator managesthe desk area of the inpatient unit, facilitating the use of technologyand coordinating downtime procedures. Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Minimum of six months of experience as a HealthUnit Coordinator is preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: High Schooldiploma or equivalent is required. Medical terminology knowledge isrequired or must satisfactorily complete this course within the firstsix months of employment. Completion of a formal Health Unit Coordinatortraining program is preferred.SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Must have theability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment. Exemplarytelephone etiquette and customer service skills are required. Mustpossess analytical skills to gather and interpret routine data, maintainsemi-complex records and organize work. Working knowledge of Windowsoffice systems and all office equipment preferredLICENSURE DESCRIPTION:Health Unit Coordinator certification is preferred.
