Everest Insurance Company, a member of Everest Re Group, Ltd., is actively seeking Head of Risk Management Casualty to lead all aspects of P&L management for our Risk Management Primary Casualty underwriting team within the US Casualty business segment. They will report to the President of US Casualty, based in any of the following offices: New York City, Warren, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Stamford, or Atlanta.
Responsibilities:
Leadership. The Head of Risk Management Casualty is responsible for directly recruiting, leading, coaching and developing the underwriting staff, with support from the CUO teams. This position will also align with and liaison with key Functional leadership contacts to address service, operational infrastructure, financial reporting, and data analytics needs. The individual must be an exceptional leader, who maintains a "can do", goal-oriented, entrepreneurial environment that stresses employee performance and accountability, teamwork, management credibility and success. The person must be a strong communicator who can gain trust immediately and inspire the team. The individual will align, engage, empower, and influence others through ideas, encouragement, and insight. The leader will create a work environment that fosters teamwork, innovation, and cooperation by establishing a disciplined engagement cadence and protocol for monitoring all aspects of P&L performance including production and portfolio management KPI targets.
Growth Strategist. This leader will be responsible for successful execution of the overall Risk Management plan, adjusting strategies and actions to meet the needs of a changing marketplace. They will effectively preserve and enhance profitability through risk selection, pricing discipline and the development of business-enhancing performance metrics and controls. They will develop timely new and renewal account strategies for profitable production, including collaborating and identifying synergies with National Accounts Excess Casualty, as well as with other business units within Everest. Other business units include, but are not limited to: Multinational, Everest Canada, Property and Everest Specialty Underwriters.
Market Relationships & Brand Builder. Working with Sales and Distribution, they will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with retail production sources and large Insureds to facilitate new and renewal business growth. They will create relevance among key trading partners and ensure we maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities. They will also lead the organization around brand awareness and affinity by providing thought-leadership and insight on emerging risks, trends and opportunities to the marketplace and brokers. This position will require regular meeting engagements with key brokers and clients across the country throughout the year.
Oversees Profitable Growth. They will be responsible for leading the teams and collaborating with others to deliver the agreed top-and-bottom-line annual business plan with a target of delivering consistent underwriting profit that meets or exceeds Combined Ratio targets. Collaboration with other product lines to provide full support to the client is a must.
Work Experience and Qualifications:o Bachelors' degree or above and insurance certifications.o Minimum 15+ years' experience in underwriting and managing large account primary casualty lines, including general liability, automobile, and worker's compensation. Well versed in all forms of loss responsive program structures.o Minimum of 15+ years of leading underwriting teams.o Proven people management, team building and leadership skills.o Ability to inspire and influence a high performance team and the greater Everest businesses.o Strong producer ollowing in retail distribution channels, as well as relationships in the Risk Manager community.o Demonstrated ability to generate profitable new business and proven record of delivering meaningful underwriting profit.o Ability to translate broad strategic direction into actionable operational plans supported by specific goals, tactics, timelines and budgets.o Proven ability to drive performance by building an understanding of key drivers, through establishment of targets and metrics, setting clear accountabilities and aligning rewards with performance.o Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills.o Proficient at applying data analytics to drive underwriting strategy and actions.o Clear, effective and engaging communicator, both verbal and written.o Ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within a fast-paced, team-oriented, working environment.o Entrepreneurial and creative spirit that is capable of translating emerging trends and customer insight into profitable strategies and business plans.
For NYC and CA Only: The base salary range for this position is $290,000 - $370,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
