  Reporting to the Director of Brand & Portfolio Marketing, we are looking for a Head of Marketing / Marketing Lead that can build and develop winning marketing strategies across the UK and international markets.

  This role will oversee the marketing for Pearson’s UK Higher Education vocational qualifications and for Pearson’s international vocational qualifications. This role will also lead on portfolio-wide marketing projects.

  Key to this role is an understanding of how to define product marketing strategy and an ability to translate that strategy into action. You will be a leader, someone that can build strong relationships across the business, and you will have the ability to own and deliver large, complicated projects and campaigns that run across different marketing teams.

  This role is a fixed term contact position for 12 months.

  Head of Marketing - 12 Month FTC

  This is an exciting role to work across two of our divisional priority areas. You will be the strategic owner of the marketing strategies for both BTEC Higher Nationals (HNC/HNDs) in the UK and all international vocational qualifications across a selection of key international territories identified for growth. Additionally, you will lead key marketing strategies & projects across all of Pearson’s vocational offering.

  Key Accountabilities:

  Working with stakeholders within the business to create and deliver the annual marketing plans for two divisional priority areas (BTEC Higher National qualifications & International vocational qualifications).

  Overseeing all product marketing for BTEC Higher National qualifications & International vocational qualifications.

  Capture the voice of the customer (both educators and students) to inform product positioning, campaign planning and future product plans.

  Lead multiple project teams to plan, design and execute targeted brand and lead generation marketing activations across a range of channels on a quarterly basis.

  Manage and develop an agile team of Marketing Managers and Senior Marketing Executives. This role is responsible for managing six members of the marketing team.

  Lead on portfolio-wide marketing projects working across the business to deliver marketing activity that stands out, that addresses current challenges & drives business growth.

  Develop and maintain insight into the higher technical education landscape in the UK, especially the reforms in England.

  Develop and maintain insight into the wider education landscape for key international territories.

  Understand the product features and be able to translate the benefits for the end user.

  Develop and execute marketing activity that drives leads and pipeline, enabling sales teams to scale existing business across their individual territories, and to increase market share in alignment with the local business plan.

  Develop and establish narrative and marketing assets for priority audiences to grow the awareness, perception, and consideration for the Pearson BTEC brand internationally.

  Maintain relationships with external organisations that are pivotal to decision making and promotional activity for UKHE qualifications.

  Represent the marketing team at key senior leadership meetings where business critical decisions are made.

  Who We Are looking For

  Demonstrable marketing experience with a significant period of that time in product marketing

  International Marketing experience with examples of working with overseas teams to launch and establish brands/products internationally.

  Strong leadership, line management and team development skills.

  Strong expertise in marketing lead generation and direct, goal-oriented marketing activity.

  Extensive experience of simultaneously managing multiple campaigns with different objectives.

  Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in order to drive cohesion and a shared vision.

  Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.

  Ability to prioritise most valuable activity.

  Exceptional attention to detail and highly organised.

  Proactive, pragmatic and analytical mindset.

  Positive, collaborative, can-do attitude.

  Excellent communication skills.

  Essential:

  9+ years of marketing experience.

  International marketing experience. You can clearly demonstrate how you have grown an international business.

  Good understanding of the UK education sector. Experience in the UK Higher Education Policy and landscape would be desirable.

  Educated in marketing or business (eg CIM, degree, MBA, mini-MBA).

  Proven team management experience.

  Track record of successful performance in a marketing role.

  A leader. Someone that can plan out a complicated project/campaigns, that is adept at bringing different stakeholders on board, and someone that can deliver ambitious goals. In short, we need someone that make things happen and that can bring everyone on the journey with them.

  Comfortable leading high-profile campaigns & projects independently.

  Commercial and results driven.

  An understanding of performance marketing and how to generate cost effective leads to drive business.

  High level of enthusiasm and drive – able to self-start, inspire and motivate others.

  Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively both internally and externally.

  Ability to work under pressure, staying ahead of complex schedules.
