Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for hardware design activities and deliverables within the programs.
• Understanding of electrical system elements including wiring harnesses, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), and regulatory testing (UL, IEC, EMC, ESD, EFT).
• Maintain support for existing products including a range of Life Cycle Management activities.
• Execute key engineering and quality projects using appropriate Six Sigma and 8D tools and processes.
• Collaborate with Tennant Operations & Service teams to quickly understand product quality issues and partner to create and validate solutions.
• Design and analysis using the following tools/processes: worst-case analysis, engineering calculations, FMEAs, statistical reliability, and simulation analysis.
• Plans and supports verification and validation testing. Leverages the test data to understand and manage design trade-offs.
• Communicate status, schedule, and technical risk to engineering leaders and program management.
• Apply Tennant, Industry, and Regulatory standards to designs.
• Keep abreast of Engineering techniques, processes, and best practices as they affect design assignments on Tennant products.
• Helps lead and mentor junior engineers and designers.
• Independently identify and implement departmental improvement projects.
• Write reports, maintain records, and capture patentable ideas.
• Develop standard work practices for DSE including internal standards development.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of experience.
• Design experience using schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium and Orcad.
• Demonstrated examples of executing complicated technical programs with many stakeholders.
• Experience driving development of electrical components based on defined interfaces, system, regulatory, and performance requirements.
• Ability to drive root cause identification and corrective action leading to timely resolution.
• Self-starter, able to successfully manage ambiguous tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Windows Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and simulation software. A proficiency in Minitab, Reliasoft (or other statistical software), and/or Microsoft Project would be desirable
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in physical systems modeling, analysis, and simulation using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, MathCad, or PSpice.
• High speed digital design, power electronics, and analog circuit design.
• Experience with communication interfaces and networks including CAN, RS-232, Ethernet, and USB.
• Experience with mechanical design software basic functionality (Solidworks).
• Power electronics, power systems, and closed loop control systems experience.
