Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)

Shift: Shift 1

Work Schedule: 8 Hr (9:00:00 AM - 5:30:00 AM)

Summary:

The LADS Group Worker, under the supervision of the LEAD teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing an age and developmentally appropriate daily program as a caregiver for the children. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Participating with children age of five to twelve years old, provide care, nurturance, protection and supervision for all children on site, on excursions and during pick up services. Proper care of program equipment and supplies, works as a team with all classroom staff, collaborating with team members in planning the program. The Group worker reports to the School Coordinator and LEAD teacher. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Supports activities that promote the acquisition of math and science concepts.

Assist with extra-curricular programs such as music, gymnastics, swimming, etc.

To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance.

Supports activities that develop positive self-esteem.

Supports activities that develop social skills.

Supports culturally diverse experiences.

Uses and promotes positive guidance techniques.

Supports a wide variety of creative and expressive activities.

Supports routines with smooth transition periods.

Communicates with children at their developmental level.

Encourages children to be independent.

To establish positive and productive relationships with families.

Greets parents at pick up and drop off times.

Supports positive relationships with families.

Supports a variety of ways that families can participate in the program.

To maintain a commitment to professionalism.

Promotes the center's philosophy and educational objectives.

Support the center's code of ethical conduct.

Engages ongoing staff development to improve personal and professional goals.

Supports the professional growth and development of colleagues by sharing materials and information and providing helpful feedback and encouragement.

Attends staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training provided by the center.

Other information:

Required Job Qualifications:

•Associates degree in education or related field.

•Available to work full time during summer.

•Will consider candidate with six credit hours in child development, psychology and/or recreation.

•Warm, supportive attitude toward children.

•Reliable.

•Flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program.

•Willing to accept supervision in order to improve performance.

Physical Demands:

•Must be physically able to perform the job of an early childhood teacher (e.g. able to lift children and/or equipment up to 40lbs; able to stoop, bend, sit and stand for extended periods of time).
