JOB REQUIREMENTS: Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related toolsthat remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges orcorners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic work pieces. Must beable to perform own set-ups. Must be able to check parts usingmicrometers, bore gages, air gages & profilometer. Extremely tighttolerances must be held on both size & finish. Activate machine start-upswitches to grind, lap, hone, debar, shear, or cut workpieces, accordingto specifications. Brush or spray lubricating compounds on workpieces,or turn valve handles and direct flow of coolant against tools andworkpieces. Compute machine indexings and settings for specifieddimensions and base reference points. Inspect or measure finishedworkpieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuringinstruments such as gauges or micrometers. Measure workpieces and layout work, using precision measuring devices. Move machine controls toindex workpieces, and to adjust machines for pre-selected operationalsettings. Observe machine operations to detect any problems, makingnecessary adjustments to correct problems.
