The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

  The Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center, a university-wide center based at the Mailman School of Public Health, is a vibrant hub devoted to investigating how to optimize human aging and to translating research into policies that support longer healthspan to match human longevity. The Center's scientific program covers a broad range of research: biological aging and health disparities; global health and aging; societal aging and social capital; and the science of health. Reporting to the Center Administrator, the incumbent will manage pre- and post-award activities of the center including the coordination of proposal submissions and management of essential post-award activities of sponsored projects. The incumbent will work closely with faculty and serve as liaison with the University's central research offices such as Sponsored Project Administration, Sponsored Project Finance and Research Compliance.

  Responsibilities

  Pre-Award - 45%

  Work closely with faculty and staff in the development, review, and submission of grants proposals, service agreements, and contracts as well as progress reports, prior approval requests and other deliverables to sponsor.Work closely with Sponsored Projects Administration to manage all internal proposal requirements, set timelines, and monitor the overall progression of the submission to ensure the on-time completion of proposal applications, and deliverables.Review RFA's, and sponsor terms and conditions for submitting, accepting, and administering grant awards.Assist in maintaining and updating other support documents, biosketches, and other grant proposal submission materials.Post-Award - 45%

  AWARD SET-UP: Review and process incoming awards and modifications and ensure accuracy in grants setup details and budgets. Work with Center Administrator to initiate effort distributions upon award.AWARD TRACKING: Track sponsor award terms and due dates and ensure timely submission of progress reports and deliverables. Track IRB approvals and monitor other compliance related requirements.FINANCIAL MONITORING & REPORTING: Perform ongoing financial review and reconciliation of sponsored projects. Pull and review financial reports with PI and obtain quarterly PI attestations. Investigate and resolve any expense discrepancies or questions. Assist in expense validations and close-out procedures.SUBCONTRACTS: Work closely with subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely billing, payments, and the renewal of subcontract agreements.ARC VOUCHERS AND REQUISITIONS: Assist in the review, and approval of grant related accounting transactions to ensure compliance with University and Sponsor policies.BUDGETING: Assist in the grant related budget entries in the University Financial System on a quarterly basis.EFFORT REPORTING: Support the annual sponsored project effort reporting certification process in the eCERT system.Other - 10%

  Complete relevant initial and ongoing trainings and attend relevant meetings and forums to continuously develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of federal rules and regulations that govern research grants.Perform other administrative and financial support duties as assigned.Effort distribution of position may change due to the sponsored projects needs of the Center.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training, and experience plus three years of related experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro and Excel.Must be highly organized and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion and prioritize workload and make informed, independent decisions.Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to deadlines.Preferred Qualifications

  Experience with pre- and post-award grant administration.Knowledge of sponsors and sponsor requirements.Familiarity with Columbia Systems.Subject to business needs, we may support flexible and hybrid work arrangements. Options will be discussed during the interview process.
