MSU Denver is seeking a college grant director to lead grant activities forthe College of Health and Human Sciences. The director will develop, plan,direct, and supervise grant projects for the college and its departments andthe Health Institute under the direction of the College Dean. This position isresponsible for writing major grant applications, pre-award coordination ofgrant applications for the college, post-award budget development andsupport for faculty/staff in charge of grant-funded projects, search andnotification of opportunities for external sources of funding including grantsand foundations, grant-writing training, grant template development, andgeneral oversight of grant development and oversight for the college.
The Director serves as a liaison with community members, electedofficials, funding source program and contract officers, resourcedevelopers nationally, and community organizations. The Director providesleadership in the research and identification of college priorities and searchrequests.
MSU Denver enrolls 17,000 students, where over 60% are firstgeneration, and over 50% are students of color. Responsibilities
35%- Provides supervision of grants office staff in coordination of thefollowing: researches and identifies public and private grant fundingsources that are compatible with the purposes and goals of the institution;develops and implements a system for the timely distribution of information onfunding programs to appropriate faculty, staff, and administration; anddevelops an annual plan for submission of grant proposals. Supervises thedevelopment of proposals; researches grant topics to add depth toproposals; and prepares institutional background and capabilitystatements, area information, and other narratives of a general nature forinclusion in grant proposals.
25% - Provides supervision of grants office staff in coordination of thefollowing: develops a close working relationship with public and privateprogram offices, congressional offices, and federal reviewing and/orapproving agencies. Attends bidder's conferences and other meetings relatedto proposal development and grant proposals with funding officials (incoordination with project director and appropriate college faculty, staff,and/or administrators). Maintains a central file of all proposalssubmitted by the College; collaborates with the Office of Sponsored Researchand Programs and the Sponsored Projects Accounting and Compliance Office toinitiate required federal/state/internal paperwork; develops and/orreviews proposal budgets. Prepares correspondence accepting grants and conferswith project directors in preparing correspondence amending grants. Monitorsand prepares institutional responses as requested to federal and statelegislation and regulations which impact educational funding. Confers withother institutions, agencies, or organizations in cooperative and/orconsortia agreements related to grants. Conducts proposal developmentworkshops for faculty, staff and other agencies as requested. Developsperiodic reports on grant activity at he College for presentation to theLocal Advisory Board, college administration, and/or appropriateagencies/individuals; and publicizes grants information through print andelectronic media. Maintains a resource development library that containsinformation on funding sources, research data, planning documents, etc.Maintain grants data base to track grant submission and results.
30%- Provides supervision of grants office staff in coordination of thefollowing: develops and implements an effective grants management system toensure compliance with federal and state regulations including internaldissemination of signed contracts, coordination of budget revisions, etc.Monitors regulations of funding agencies to ensure that all proceduresrequired are in place. Administers the grants management process includinginternal coordination between project coordinators/directors and universityfinancial partners; and communicates with appropriatefederal/state/private funding agencies and personnel. Develop proceduresand a handbook for grants management for the college.
10% - Develops in partnership with Dean's office, relevant, specificand measurable objectives and action plans for the work unit in accordancewith the Dean's strategic goals. Cooperates with others to accomplish commongoals; works with employees within and across department to achievestrategic goals. Serve on various standing committees as assigned by the Dean.And, performs other duties as assigned.
