Supports general ledger accounting functions of the organization includingrecording and reporting of grants and contracts. The Grant Accountant performs a variety of tasks inthe areas of accounting, including grant invoicing, reporting and reconciliations, assisting the SeniorGrants Accountant, and the accounting team in the preparation of financial & supporting documentationreconciliations as required. The GA will communicate between the Finance Department and otherdepartments to coordinate the collection and dissemination of information needed to process data in atimely and accurate manner.
ACCOUNTING:Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices.Develop accounting software proficiency in Acumatica to record, store and analyze financial information.Verify figures, postings and documents for proper accounting entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers, spreadsheets, or databases.Assists with expense/budget monitoring for multiple funding sources.Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports by funding sources.Supports finance department with grant reporting process.Assist with grant budgets, audits, and account reconciliations.Provides support with General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable month- end close and year-end audit preparation.Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.Ability to exercise and interpret policy and fiscal guidelines.
ADMINISTRATION/COLLABORATION:Organize and maintain both paper and electronic grant filing systems.Collaborate with various departments to ensure 2-way flow of information to ensure proper recording and accounting of financial information.Develop solutions to enhance efficiency.Prepare various schedules and analysis for annual audit; work with auditors.Assist with the managing of multiple grant spending and budgets.Demonstrate accounting software proficiency in Acumatica or similar application. Excellent attention to detail. Can understand complex business transactions or willingness to learn.The ability to communicate appropriately with co-workers and funders and seek assistance when needed.Ability to perform job requirements using specific computer hardware, accounting software programs and Microsoft 365. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Spreadsheet proficiency and intermediate skills using Microsoft Excel.
