Cooper Farms is currently seeking a Grain Merchandiser to join our team in Fort Recovery.

　　The primary goal of this position is to secure and purchase a reliable supply of high-quality grains at a competitive price for the area, as well as build and maintain long term relationships with area farmers and elevators.

　　Job Functions:

　　Purchase high quality grain with the least cost to fulfill the Feed and Animal Division feed needs and provide support to Cooper Grain & Feed, as neededFocus on developing farmer and elevator relationships, prioritize originating farmer-owned cornMaintain knowledge of grain contract types offered by Cooper Farms and communicate to grain suppliers the risks and rewards of each contractProvide hedging recommendations to the hedging team and participate in weekly hedging activitiesSupport commodity hedging activities through reporting, input and analysis of grain and livestock marketsMaintain an understanding of the feed manufacturing process to provide suggestions to improve efficiency, safety, and lower costs in the feed mill environmentEnsure proper grain grading certificates and trainings are kept up to date and valid across locations and applicable team membersWork with Feed Mill Managers to establish grain bin maintenance plans and manage inventory levels in accordance with these plansCoordinate yearly events or programs and host grain suppliers to emphasize our appreciation for their businessAssist in setting Master Business Planning goals for the departmentRequirementsThis position requires excellent communication and customer-service skillsStrong analytical and mathematical skills are vital to this roleBachelor's degree in agriculture, business, economics or related field is preferredExperience in commodity trading or grain merchandising is beneficialSummaryCooper Farms consistently works to be more than a workplace to our team members.
