  Job Summary

  To provide professional knowledge, advice and counseling regarding the institutional student graduation process. Responsible for supervision and counseling for all aspects of routine and non-routine graduation policy and procedure requirements.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  Processes applications for graduation and is accountable for validation that degree and certificate requirements are fulfilled for students for whom s/he is accountable.

  May be responsible for specific populations (graduate student conferrals, for example); however, accountability will be for all students assigned to this graduation counselor.

  Utilizes computerized degree audit system and updates student records.

  Counsels students regarding graduation requirements, deficiencies in grade points and a variety of other issues related to conferability.

  Provides guidance to faculty/staff on graduate policy and processes.

  Supervises of student workers in maintaining workflow progress and quality.

  Performs related duties as required.

  Required Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree and Five (5) years of experience counseling students in academic and scholastic matters, with a broad knowledge of institutional graduation requirements, or a combination of related, experience, education, and training may be considered.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Use of personal computer and standard office equipment.

  Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Usual office environment.

  Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

  Experience in higher education environment. Experience in PeopleSoft/Campus Community.

  Experience in project planning.
