　　Job Description

　　The Grid Automation and Control Group at NREL is looking for a full-time (40 hours per week) graduate intern. The successful candidate will work with NREL researchers on analyzing stability and developing stability monitoring methods for power systems with high levels of inverter-based resources (IBR).

　　The intern will perform power system electromagnetic transient simulations for different IBR scenarios, and conduct analysis of the system with respect to its inertia, possible oscillations, and stability margin. Additionally, the intern will also help develop new stability monitoring algorithms and tools for inertia estimation, oscillation source identification, as well as PMU-based stability margin analysis.

　　The ideal candidate will have experience in power system stability analysis and simulation. Prior research experience in IBRs is preferred. It is expected that the intern should be able to conduct research work independently and collaborate with the project PI and other team members.

　　Basic Qualifications

　　Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Candidates who have earned a degree may work for a period not to exceed 12 months. Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

　　Additional Required Qualifications

　　Currently enrolled graduate students in power engineering, electrical engineering, or other relevant areas (Ph.D. students would be preferred).

　　Solid background in power system modeling and monitoring.

　　Experience in signal processing.

　　Experience in inverter-based resources in power systems.

　　Proficiency in programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++)

　　Being self-motivated, having creative problem-solving skills, and respecting project timelines.

　　Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

　　Preferred Qualifications

　　Experience in RSCAD, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, or other EMT simulation tools..

　　Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

　　Job Profile: Graduate II / Annual Salary Range: $42,700 - $68,300
