Summary:

The Graduate Rotation Program is focused on developing the future leaders of our business. Graduate Rotational Analysts will be involved with various types of projects based on the requirements of our business at the time. These projects include tackling everything from improving our understanding of market behaviors and economics to assessing the commercial implications of energy deregulation. Add in the opportunity to assess major risks, analyze customer behaviors, and conduct competitor reviews. The first year of your rotation will be in one of our core business departments as you build your foundational knowledge. Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job experience and contribute to collaborative, cross-functional projects that are meaningful to the success of various facets of the business.
As a Graduate Rotation Analyst, you will perform the same tasks as our entry-level Analysts and have an opportunity to learn the methods, tasks, and objectives each of these groups complete in their day-to-day support of NRG’s operations and business strategy.
Primary Responsibilities:
P&L ownership for the assigned business unit
Variance analysis and PowerPoint presentations to senior leadership
Excel modeling on trends, forecasts, business performance, risks, and opportunities
Ad hoc analytics and strategic projects to support key stakeholder initiatives
Build, maintain, and leverage relationships with various business partners
Month-end close processes including accruals, reclasses, and other journal entries
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information
Prepare regular performance analysis focusing on trends, key business performance, and risks and opportunities
Identify opportunities to increase automation, enhance controls, and increase efficiencies
Manage, build, and enhance enterprise planning models
Variance analysis, trend analysis, and financial review
Responsible for preparation and analysis of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for assigned functions
Required Skills and Experience:
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Experience with planning and analysis software tools (Adaptive Planning, SQL, SAP, or Tableau)
Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify trends in financial data and develop creative solutions to address negative trends
Diverse thinking, ability to work with ambiguity, create ad hoc analysis, and manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with senior management
Detailed understanding of Accounting principles
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree discipline: MBA degree or higher. Preference in Finance.
Must have a 3.3 or higher GPA
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis without sponsorship

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
