  About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering

  The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Cornell University is among the largest schools in College of Engineering, and consistently ranks among the top ECE schools nationally. ECE's programs encompass digital and computer systems, embedded processors, digital signal processing, RF (wireless) systems, optical communications, atmospheric and space plasmas, energy and power engineering, solid-state electronics, integrated circuit design and fabrication, bioelectrical devices and circuits, and biomedical applications such as image processing, sensors, and signal analysis, and more. The department supports 40-50 faculty and instructors across the Ithaca and Tech campuses, approximately 200 undergraduates, 160 Master of Engineering students and over 130 Ph.D. students.

  The Opportunity

  The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as the MEng Graduate Field Administrator. This role is instrumental in providing leadership, management, and administration to the ECE MEng program. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in student recruitment, enrollment, and program development.

  Responsibilities:

  Recruitment, Admissions, and Enrollment: Coordinate all aspects of the MEng recruitment, admissions, and enrollment process, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for prospective and incoming students.Event Planning and Communications: Independently plan and execute program events, activities, and communications for both new and current students. This includes organizing welcome and orientation events, disseminating information related to registration, employment, research opportunities, and coordinating graduation events.Student Support: Support student progress, troubleshoot issues as needed, and act as the first point of contact for students facing challenges. Monitor and verify requirements for degree completion.Team Collaboration: Work closely with the team addressing students of concern or at risk, providing critical support to ensure the overall well-being of our students.

  This is a full-time (39hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site. Typical work hours are 8am-5pm Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends to meet department needs.

  Hold an Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.Be passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing.Serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.Display excellent customer service skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.Have strong organizational skills; ability to follow up, track multi-step decision-making, and bring processes to completion.Be proactive and independent while working closely in a team environment.Utilize effective communication skills; ability to be clear and concise.Actively listen, be patient, and remain calm in highly sensitive situations, e.g., when attending to a student of concern; use of sound judgement when referring students to other services.Have impeccable integrity with a clear sense of ethics, fairness, discretion, and personal responsibility.Read and comprehend policies, guidelines, protocols and ask appropriate questions when dealing with outlier situations.Quickly learn software programs and create meaningful reports both routine and ad hoc.Be able to work commencement weekend and potentially a handful of other events that may be scheduled outside of normal business hours.If you possess these experiences and skills this may be the role for you!
