Function of Position:
The Office of Housing and Residence Life is looking for a GA to support program development within the residence halls. The GA will help implement and support larger scale departmental programming such as the weeks of welcome programming to kick start each semester in the residence halls, residence halls' fall and spring festivals, and Fresh Check Day. The GA is expected to fully participate in Resident Director and Resident Assistant training in August and January. The successful GA candidate will serve as a part of the on-call crisis duty rotation and supervise students in a programming capacity. The GA will also be responsible for holding office hours. Professional development opportunities may be available for the successful candidate.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Participate in day, evening, and weekend duty coverage
Ensure students are compliant with the Residence Life Policy Manual and College policies
Help to create and implement larger departmental schedule of educational programming including a monthly/bimonthly programming series based on student needs
Assess and track completed programs and make future recommendations based on student feedback
Use HRL data including incident reports to create future programs and prepare programming outcomes
Conduct necessary conduct hearings, complete database entries and official documentation
Establish and oversee Residence Hall Council to provide resident students with opportunity to facilitate programs and perform community service
Establish and maintain office hours to provide visibility and address resident needs and concerns
Develop and maintain positive relationships with both residents and student staff which promote ongoing communication, mutual support and respect
Maintain effective positive relationships with all College departments (including, but not limited to, Public Safety, Counseling Services, and Health Services)

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be accepted into a graduate program for the 2024 spring semester and have full time graduate student status. Preference will be given to candidates in Higher Education/College Personnel or related programs.
Crisis management experience
Must be willing to work some weekends and nights
Excellent computer & technology skills
Sound judgment and tact
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Great communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Stipend: This assistantship includes a base stipend for the academic year of $15,000, paid biweekly.
20 - 30 hours of work per week is expected.
