　　This post sits within the Middle East, Turkiye, Africa, Pakistan, and South Asia (METAPSA) Government Relations (GR) team and will be responsible for leading government relations and public policy across Egypt and North Africa. The candidate will also be responsible for addressing key policy areas and partnerships across the region. This role reports into the Head of GR for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkiye (MENAT) region.

　　The candidate must have experience in the areas of government relations, public policy and key stakeholders engagement across Egypt and North Africa. The candidate will also be a strategic, big-picture thinker, identifying key policy trends and supporting short-to-long planning across the region and organisation. S/he should be a highly flexible, agile problem-solver with strong communication skills enabling her or him to work alongside a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders to address key strategic needs in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

　　The main responsibilities for this exciting role include:

　　1. Building relationships with local governments, NGOs, academia, think tanks and other stakeholders in Egypt and North Africa region to support the growth of TikTok;

　　2. Working with policymakers, think tanks and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on issues of data protection, privacy, safety and security, intellectual property, e-governance, content policy and other technology-relevant public policy concerns;

　　3. Building long-term strategic relationships with local partners; brainstorming and executing advocacy/policy campaigns in relevant public policy areas that impact TikTok;

　　4. Advising internal teams on public policy matters emerging in Egypt and North Africa; and helping to shape strategic and actionable plans in line with respective North Africa Governments' regulations and policy frameworks;

　　5. Actively identifying emerging and significant policy issues in these markets and engaging with stakeholders and experts on issues of importance;

　　6. Monitoring political and social events in the North Africa region, and working with local teams to mitigate operational risks; and,

　　7. Being an external advocate for TikTok's policy positions, and working to help local communities understand TikTok better.

　　Qualifications

　　To join our dynamic and fast growing team, the ideal candidate must have the following minimum qualifications:

　　- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. A post-graduate qualification is desirable;

　　- An education background in law or public policy is a plus;

　　- 10 years of demonstrated experience managing public policy and/or government relations, advocacy work and government/private sector partnerships, especially in Egypt and North Africa region;

　　- 5 years or more of work experience in local government or a public policy team of a global tech or Internet company is preferred;

　　- Outstanding judgment, persuasive and lobbying skills, creativity, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced and often uncertain environment;

　　- A vast understanding of the North Africa content market and the technology sector;

　　- A keen understanding of the region's political system, environment and institutions, as well as cultural landscape;

　　- A solid network and relationships with North Africa policymakers, academia, civil society and the technology industry;

　　- An interest in emerging technologies and public policy work; and,

　　- A strong team player with the ability to exercise good judgment in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment.

　　- Strong communication skills in Arabic and English are required. Fluency in French is a plus.
