JOB SUMMA RY
The Global Planning Director role is responsible for demand planning, inventory planning and (supply) network planning for BWI for the Diagnostics, Access & Accessories, and Hardware / Software platforms. The role is responsible for attaining global key performance indicators (KPIs) including forecast accuracy (MAPE, bias), inventory (gross/net dollars, DOS), Slow Moving/Obsolete (SLOB), and customer service (OTIF) for the Diagnostics, Access & Accessories, and Hardware / Software platforms. This role owns key Supply Chain planning processes globally, including the BWI Global Executive IBP process, Global Inventory process and governance, and the Raw Material Control Tower process.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
For owned platforms, drive supply chain planning activities for the BWI business including demand planning, new product launch planning, inventory planning, and (supply) network planning
For owned platforms, responsible for the handshake/transition of new products into the base business (from the NPI Planning team)
For owned platforms, responsible for attaining and driving improvements to Key Performance Indicators, including forecast accuracy (MAPE, bias), inventory (gross/net dollars, DOS), Slow Moving/Obsolete (SLOB), and customer service (OTIF) for BWI business
Own the overall BWI Exec IBP process including leading the global BWI Executive IBP with senior management to communicate risks, opportunities, and scenarios while driving decisions to support business goals
Accountable for shaping and achieving Global inventory business plan ($ and DOS), setting safety stock levels, managing inventory tracking processes and reconciliation (i.e. actual vs. plan), and identifying/implementing inventory reduction opportunities
Own the global, long-term demand and supply chain strategy for owned platforms, partnering with Global Strategic Marketing and New Product Management to develop demand scenarios and strategies. Collaborate with Manufacturing and/or External Operations on corresponding supply scenarios and strategies to ensure adequate future supply capabilities and capacity. Communicate and escalate concerns to management
Build strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including Marketing, Manufacturing, Source, Deliver Finance, NPI, R&D, and Quality leading cross functional/ virtual teams where required
Responsible for identifying areas to improve supply chain effectiveness and performance
Conduct scenario plans to identify and / or close gaps (financials, capacities, inventory etc.) and drive alignment between business functions
Responsible for identifying and driving improvements to planning processes (IBP, demand, inventory and supply planning) as well as optimization of key planning parameters
Provide thought leadership and direction to peers through training and coaching
Provide leadership to a team of supply chain planning managers and analysts by recruiting, training, developing mentoring, and rewarding for high levels of company contribution
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition
Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Government and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
Performs other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required (preferably in Supply Chain / Logistics, Operations, or Engineering). A Masters degree or MBA is preferred
A minimum of 10 years in supply chain or operations is required
A minimum of 6 years of experience in two or more of the following areas: demand planning, supply planning, inventory planning, network planning, IBP, business system implementation, and/or new product introductions is required
A minimum of 5 years of people management experience required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES and CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
Proven track record of challenging the “status-quo”, visualizing potential opportunities and implementing actions to build value is required
Project management skills, with the ability to drive change and influence decision-making through multiple levels (Analyst, Manager, Director, Vice President) of the organization is required
The ability to communicate clearly, making the complex clear and compelling to all levels of the organization in both written & oral form is required
Experience in scenario planning is required
Proven analytical/quantitative skills are required
High sense of urgency, adaptable to meet rapidly changing priorities is required
Understanding of end-to-end supply chain interactions and interdependencies is required
Ability to develop, coach and lead a team of planners and managers in the execution, strategies and realization of departmental and company goals is required
MRP, APS, and/or ERP systems experience and understanding is required
High proficiency and advanced understanding in Microsoft Excel is required
Manugistics, JDE, SAP, Microsoft Access and/or SQL proficiency experience is strongly preferred
Six Sigma Certifications or Supply Chain Certification (APICS/ IBF) preferred
ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Travel: up to 15%
Occasional weekend/travel work may be required as necessary
