Amazon.com is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer for a high visibility role supporting Amazon's Global Media and Entertainment (GME) leadership team. Our team is the central financial planning and analysis group that provides insights for the global GME organization. We own the narratives, measurement, and planning processes and interacts with a team of global business leaders to drive our business forward.Key job responsibilitiesWe're looking for a Sr. BIE who can help us drive data-driven decision-making across GME. You will own defining and managing request prioritization, establishing net new business metrics, and owning a new suite of reporting tools. You will develop solutions to complex and unsolved business problems characterized by imperfect data. You will drive the development of new reporting suites to help scale and optimize the reporting processes. A BIE in our team requires the ability to dive deep into large amounts of data, have good business intuition, curiosity, and grit to deal with ambiguity, and the desire to influence strategic decisions with data-driven analysis and insights.Core responsibilities include:* Own the design, development, and maintenance of scalable solutions for ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to support analytical and business needs.* Efficiently drive project prioritization and allocation across a small BI team* Manage and deliver multiple complex business requests simultaneously* Translate basic business problem statements into analysis requirements. Work with internal customers to define best output based on expressed stakeholder needs.* Build and deliver high quality data architecture and pipelines to support business analysts, product and program managers, and customer reporting needs.* Mentor and develop other Business Intelligence Analysts / Engineers.* Serve as a senior SME and mentor for Tableau and SQL, including helping teams become more self-sufficient with scripted requests.* Interfacing with multiple international stakeholders gathering requirements and developing new datasets in data warehouseWe are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Seattle, WA, USA- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines- Experience writing complex SQL queries- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets- Experience with theory and practice of data science, machine learning and data mining- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of resultsOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $79,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
