  The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus ranks among the top institutions nationally in clinical care, education, and research. Its 230-acre campus, designed to enhance collaboration and interprofessional education, hosts the College of Nursing; the Schools of Dental Medicine, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Public Health; the Graduate School; a Health Sciences Library; and three hospitals. UC Denver/Anschutz offers two undergraduate degrees, 35 graduate degrees, and has five first-professional programs. The Department of Pathology employs 130 faculty with diverse expertise from basic science to the practice of human and veterinary medicine, broadly focused on the study, diagnosis and treatment of disease and training the next generation of healthcare and scientific professionals.

  Nature of work:

  This permanent on-site full-time position in the University of Colorado, School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, to be based at the University of Colorado Hospital in the Department of Pathology Anatomic Pathology laboratory. The recruit will serve as an attending pathologist and educate others in hepatic and liver transplant pathology, pancreatic, biliary, and tubular GI pathology. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team, inclusive of senior liver and GI pathologists, clinicians and surgeons thus strong communication and professional skills are expected. Given the acute nature of the work, night, and weekend call in rotation with other attending pathologists will be required.

  The academic appointment, at rank of Assistant or Associate Professor or Professor, requires the candidate to have significant medical training and experience, and excel in clinical activities, teaching, and scholarship.

  Employment Expectations:

  Attending pathologist based in the Department of Pathology Surgical Pathology Laboratory at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), in the subspecialty of hepatic and liver transplant pathology, pancreatic, biliary and tubular GI pathology.

  Provide clinical consultation to peers in pathology, colleagues in other subspecialties at Multidisciplinary Conferences (MDC), and others in subspecialty areas of anatomic pathology.

  Engage in teaching activities, including small and large group didactic conferences, one on one teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. This includes joining faculty of residency in pathology, as well as fellowships in surgical pathology and hepatic, pancreatic, biliary and tubular GI pathology. This may include service on program committees, participation in the teaching, evaluation and curriculum review for these programs.

  Engage in scholarship, as broadly defined in the matrix of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. You are not expected to acquire external funding, however, you may participate in funded research and also apply for pilot funding through Department of Pathology programs.

  Participate as the on call attending in anatomic pathology on-call coverage after hours, serve as the attending pathologist in subspecialty coverage call as well as transplant pathology (semi-voluntary).

  Minimum Qualifications :

  Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

  Assistant Professor:

  The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and have completed fellowship training in gastrointestinal and liver pathology in a 12 month, GME approved program.Associate Professor :

  The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and have completed fellowship training in gastrointestinal and liver pathology in a 12 month, GME approved program. At least 5 years of experience in academic gastrointestinal, pancreaticobiliary, and liver pathology is required. Clinical, teaching and scholarship accomplishments sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, regular (tenure eligible) track required.Professor :

  The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and have completed fellowship training in gastrointestinal and liver pathology in a 12 month, GME approved program. At least 10 years of experience in academic gastrointestinal, pancreaticobiliary, and liver pathology is required. Clinical, teaching and scholarship accomplishments sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Professor, regular (tenure eligible) track required. Candidates without significant scholarship who otherwise meet the criteria above may be considered for appointment in the Clinical, non-tenure eligible track.Preferred Qualifications:

  Years of practice at an academic institution, with up to date understanding of highly complex practice including molecular analysis and treatment of the subspecialty of anatomic pathology. At the rank of Professor, we prefer some leadership and managerial experience.How to Apply:

  Anticipated Pay Range:

  The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE (minimum – 40 th posting max) .

  Assistant Professor: $130,000 to $250,000

  Associate Professor: $212,000 to $290,000

  Professor: $290,000-360,000

  The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
