Garage Service | Helper$14.78 | Hourly

　　(RATE OF PAY DEPENDENT UPON EXPERIENCE)Location: Bay Minette, Alabama

　　Hiring rate will be based on qualifications.

　　The City of Bay Minette is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Garage Service Helper within the Public Works Department to perform manual work functions associated with the routine repair, service, and maintenance of motor vehicles, other standard and specialized automotive equipment, and/or construction equipment.

　　Duties include, but are not limited to:

　　Inspects and services motor vehicles and/or construction equipment; examines parts fordamage or excessive wear; performs repairs or adjustments; refers complex repairs to appropriate personnel.Performs repairs and preventive maintenance work on vehicles and equipment, specifically: repairing truck, tractor, and backhoe tires; refueling; cleaning vehicles and equipment; replacing and balancing tires; checking fluid levels; changing oil and filters; replacing batteries and hoses; greasing equipment; and sharpening blades.Assists mechanics in the repair or installation of universal joints, starters, generators, carburetors, alternators, radiators, lights and instrument panels, shock absorbers, headlights, hydraulic cylinders, and radiators.Operates and/or assists in the servicing of a variety of vehicles, equipment and tools in the performance of duties.Maintains a safe work environment at all times.Transports parts and supplies as directed.Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.The position is full-time and requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must obtain and maintain an Alabama Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B, within six (6) months of employment.Additional specialized training or experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance is a plus.

　　Must be 18 years of age, have valid drivers license from state of residence, and clean driving record. This classification is considered to be safety-sensitive and is subject to pre-employment and random drug screening.
